A new hotel coming to Patchogue has been a controversial topic among residents.

“The community realizes that a hotel certainly is needed and the event space is also needed,” said James Manicone, of JM2 Architecture, part of the planning team. “We feel it will certainly enhance the hotel experience.”

The group proposed some amenity changes and additions during the Village of Patchogue’s board meeting, including a rooftop pool, presidential suites, and a bigger event space.

The group also addressed the change in owner. A man who was a partner before took full ownership of the hotel along with his wife. Now, he’s looking to move the project along more quickly.

Community members still have their concerns, parking being the hottest topic of the night.

“The biggest problem with this is parking,” said Mary Kassner, of Patchogue. “I don't think they're being realistic. I don't think they're understanding the parking implications.”

Even board members say they are worried that big events will take over the already limited parking in downtown Patchogue and are asking for solutions from the project manager.

“Parking has always been a concern. It has always been something that we were trying to address from the very beginning….” Manicone said. “We intend to have a solution for sure to mitigate any concerns that the community would have.”

“Coming here tonight brought a little bit of clarity,” Mary Zabo said. “I think I still have questions. But hopefully they'll be mentioned in the future. I'm not afraid to come here and ask more questions.”

Project managers say they hope to break ground on the hotel in October and open in spring of 2028.
