A 31-year-old New Cassel man was arrested Saturday evening after police responded to a report of a young boy alone at the Town of North Hempstead Community Center.
According to police, officers arrived at the community center and found a 6-year-old boy unattended.
An investigation revealed that the child had been left in the care of a family friend, who allegedly left the residence and failed to properly supervise the boy.
Police arrested Rood-Diny Illus, and the child was later released into the custody of a family member.
Illus was charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
