Two male juveniles are accused of harassing people in Nassau County late Friday night.

According to detectives, the teens were driving a black Hyundai Tucson around midnight on Middle Neck Road in Great Neck when they began yelling bias insults at people walking on the sidewalk.

The pair, ages 16 and 17, fled the scene in their vehicle, but returned minutes later and continued to hurl bias insults at the same group.

Nassau police did not provide more specifics about the kind of insults that were said.

Additionally, the boys sprayed a liquid substance, believed to be water, from a water gun, which hit the people.

These actions caused the victims to be in fear for their safety and they ran away from the sidewalk to escape, police say.

After a thorough investigation, detectives were able to identify the subjects and place them under arrest on Wednesday, Aug. 12.

Both juveniles, whose names are not being released by police due to their age, will be charged with menacing and aggravated harassment when they are arraigned at Nassau County Family Court at a later date.
