Swimming reopened after advisory was in effect for Jones Beach State Park on Friday.

Officials say there was no swimming due to elevated bacteria levels detected in recent water testing.

Although it is a rare occurrence at Jones Beach, officials say the ocean remained closed to recreational bathing out of an abundance of caution until additional water testing confirmed that the conditions were safe to reopen.

The beaches affected include the Central Mall, Field 6, Field 2 and Zach’s Bay.
