The South Country School District's proposed budget failed in Tuesday's vote.

The budget failed with 1,529 voting yes and 2,747 voting no.

In a letter sent out to the community, the Board of Education stated that in the next few days they will determine whether to present a revised budget to voters on June 16 or proceed with a contingency budget for the 2026-2027 school year.
