The battle for control of the House is in full swing as a pair of Republican candidates look to unseat two Democratic incumbents.

Jeanine Driscoll is taking on freshman Democrat Rep. Laura Gillen in the 4th Congressional District, which represents Central and Southern Nassau County.

Mike Lipetri is running against Democrat Rep. Tom Suozzi in the 3rd Congressional District. The district includes most of the Town of North Hempstead, a large part of the Town of Oyster Bay and even a part of the Town of Huntington, the Town of Hempstead and Queens.

News 12's Rich Barrabi spoke one-on-one with Chairman of the Republican National Committee Joe Gruters at a recent rally on Long Island. Gruters was there to show his support for the two GOP candidates and gubernatorial candidate and Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman.

Chairman of the Republican National Committee Joe Gruters believes the battle for control of the House of Representatives will run through Long Island. Democrats, however, say even if that's true it won't bode well for the GOP.

New York State Democratic Chairman Jay Jacobs says Republicans are "in panic mode with an unpopular president" and says the outlook for their candidates on Long Island and across the country is "poor."
