A Farmingdale man is facing numerous criminal charges after an argument took a violent turn on Wednesday, according to police.
Nassau County officers responded to a residence on Colombia Street for a reported disturbance. Upon arrival, they were informed that a verbal dispute had occurred earlier that day between a 36-year-old woman and 45-year-old Saul Sanchez.
Detectives say Sanchez brandished a boxcutter during the conflict and threatened the victim before fleeing the scene on foot. The victim then asked her 21-year-old son for help changing locks on her doors.
Sanchez allegedly returned to the scene and began arguing with the 21-year-old. A fight ensued as Sanchez struck him on the head and broke his chain.
Sanchez retrieved a machete from his vehicle and started chasing the victim’s son down the street, according to police.
The chase came to a brief halt as he approached a 15-year-old passerby, threatened him and demanded his bag. The teen complied and called 911 after Sanchez resumed running down the street.
Police say he was apprehended a short time later. The charges against him include robbery, menacing, criminal mischief and criminal possession of a weapon.
