A Plainview father has been arrested after a middle school principal noticed scratches on an autistic 14-year-old student.
Police say the Plainview principal reported the injuries to authorities, saying the student had scratches and marks on their neck and stomach. During the investigation, police say it was determined the child's father was the one hurting them and inflicting injury.
Jin Chang, 52, allegedly used a Taser on his autistic son in an attempt to control him during an emotional outburst, according to investigators.
Officers recovered the Taser from the family's home, where Chang lived with his son and other relatives.
Authorities say they know of at least one time Chang used the Taser, but are still investigating.
Chang is charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child.
