Two years after nearly unseating Democratic Congressman Tom Suozzi, Republican Mike LiPetri is back on the campaign trail. The former Assemblyman from Farmingdale has secured the backing of Nassau GOP leadership and a formal endorsement from President Trump. In a Truth Social post, President Trump said, “Mike LiPetri has my Complete and Total Endorsement to be the next Representative from New York’s 3rd Congressional District — HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!
LiPetri said voters are energized by what he calls a new generation of common‑sense Republican leadership.
“People are excited for the next generation, common sense Republican, who is the Trump endorsed candidate, endorsed by Bruce Blakeman, endorsed by House leadership. We are the race to watch. Two years ago, we came within just two percentage points of victory. People are excited for what we have to bring to the table, focusing on solutions for the future and the problems of the past,” LiPetri said.
But this spring, LiPetri is facing a barrage of attacks from a political newcomer. Attorney and U.S. Air Force veteran Greg Hach of Oyster Bay is challenging him in the GOP primary and has launched a sharp‑edged ad declaring, “A conservative on TV, a liberal in the basement. That’s the real Mike LiPetri.”
Hach describes himself as “fully 100% America first” and is spending $1 million of his own money on the race. He has criticized the county GOP establishment and argues that he, not LiPetri, is the true MAGA candidate.
“I don’t have the cell phone number of the president. The party boss does. So the party boss can get those and engineer those endorsements for him,” Hach said. He added, “I’ve done my research on Mike LiPetri, and there’s a lot out there that frankly shocks me that he’s actually running.”
Hach claims LiPetri previously worked to defend sanctuary city policies and supported positions he characterizes as liberal. He said, “Right out of law school, Michael LiPetri chose to work and defend as a lawyer Bill de Blasio’s sanctuary city policies. He’s against Second Amendment rights. He’s for amnesty for illegals. These are progressive liberal policies.”
LiPetri rejects those accusations.
“It’s not true. Because I was the attorney for the New York City Law Department, defending the NYPD, FDNY, correctional officers. So he wants to lie about that. A liberal? I don’t even know where he’s getting that from.”
LiPetri also accused Hach of hiding his own political history. “My opponent likes to go after personal attacks because he himself doesn’t want to show who he really is. As a registered Democrat from New York City for his entire career, who bankrolled through tens of thousands of dollars towards leftist extremists like Kathy Hochul, AOC, Elizabeth Warren, Tish James, and all these people who want to prosecute President Trump.”
Hach dismissed those criticisms, saying his law firm’s donations reflect the realities of doing business in Manhattan. “I represent thousands of people. I have dozens of employees, very high‑paying jobs in Manhattan. We do business with a lot of other law firms in Manhattan. Those law firms have fundraisers. If we want them to come to our fundraisers, we have to go to their fundraisers.”
“There's another successful businessman that gave a lot more money than me to Democrats, and I gave it to Democrats and Republicans.
But, another very successful, business, New York City businessmen gave a lot more money than me, and he’s now President.”
