Long Island veterans celebrated on Sunday the 250th anniversary of America's independence.

They gathered at the American Legion Post 94 in Babylon with live music, food and fun for the kids.

"I'm so proud to have been able to serve my country. But I'm also really appreciative of all the support that the public gives us as veterans and all the things that show that we are a community here in Babylon," said Bob Sands, the post commander and Navy veteran.

The event raised money to support local veterans.
