Tuesday was a busy day in Nyack for firefighters as they responded to two fires and News 12's was at both.
According to Orangetown police, one started around 10:50 a.m., and the other was about a half hour later.
The first was at the West Shore Towers where there was a fire in an apartment on the sixth floor.
The apartment building is near the waterfront, overlooking the Hudson River.
News 12 spoke with the person who lived there. She said she was out running errands when someone called her to say the apartment was on fire.
No one was hurt, and the cause appears to be electrical, according to the police.
Then, there was a large blaze at the Nyack Plaza apartments, where heavy thick smoke was seen coming out of Building 3.
News 12 is still waiting to learn about what caused that fire.
The Nyack fire chief says that there was a fire in the roof, on the top floor and police first found fire inside an apartment, although there's no indication as to which one.
Village Mayor Joe Rand says a dozen families have been displaced.
News 12 heard no resident was hurt but there are pets unaccounted for and a firefighter was taken to the hospital.
Fire officials say a firefighter was taken to a local hospital, but we have not yet learned about how they were hurt.
A swarm of firefighters from Rockland, Bergen and Westchester counties were on the ground inside the building and on the roof to help get it under control.
Nyack's chief said he appreciated their help.
"I'd just like to thank all the mutual aid companies. It's a team effort. It's not just the fire department," said Nyack Fire Chief Nicholas Campbell.
