A dolphin found stranded in Babylon was put down due to poor health on Monday.

The New York Marine Rescue Center says their team received a call reporting the stranded animal around 3 p.m. The exact location is unclear.

Crews responded, evaluated the dolphin at the scene and determined it had to be euthanized.

Officials say a necropsy will be conducted over the weekend.
